Terms & Conditions

Please read these carefully. Section 1 in particular says something most carriers' terms don't.

Last updated: July 2026

1. What Ponrai Mobile actually is

Here is the part you won't find in another carrier's terms: the IBS Kingdom is not a real country. It is a fictional micronation (also known as Bulakland), and Ponrai Mobile is not a licensed public telecommunications operator anywhere in the world. Country code +474 is not assigned by the ITU; it exists only within our own network and the networks of other participating Bulakland "carriers".

The services, however, are real. Ponrai Mobile is a hobbyist telecommunications project: we operate a genuine voice-over-IP network built on an Asterisk telephony server, on which real phone numbers (within our private numbering plan) are provisioned, real calls connect, real text messages are delivered, and real voicemail boxes take messages. We also operate Ponrai TV, a genuine online television streaming service. When these Terms describe calls, texts, voicemail or TV, they describe things that actually work, just not as part of the public telephone network.

Everything else on this website, the corporate history, the "Kingdom communications levy", the licensed-carrier framing, is world-building around that real service, and should be enjoyed in that spirit.

2. Acceptance of these Terms

By requesting a number, registering a device on the network, or using Ponrai TV, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

3. The service

Subject to these Terms, Ponrai Mobile provides:

  • Voice and messaging, a number within the Bulakland private numbering plan, reachable for calls and SIP-based text messages from other numbers on the Bulakland network, with an included voicemail box. The service is audio-only; video calling is not offered.
  • Ponrai TV, access to online live television streams operated by Ponrai.

Numbers can only call and message other numbers on the Bulakland network. Your Ponrai number cannot call or text the public telephone network (no real-world landlines or mobiles, no international calling in the ordinary sense), and the public network cannot reach your Ponrai number.

4. No emergency services - important

The Ponrai network provides no access to emergency services of any kind. You cannot reach 112, 911, 999 or any other real-world emergency number from a Ponrai line. Never rely on the Ponrai service as your means of contacting emergency services; always maintain access to a conventional fixed or mobile telephone service for that purpose.

5. Pricing and billing

Plan prices on this website are denominated in "IBS krona (kr)", the currency of the IBS Kingdom. As the IBS Kingdom is fictional (see Section 1), so is its currency, and no actual money is charged, collected or owed for any plan, allowance or TV package described on this site. The service is currently provided free of charge, at our discretion, to people we choose to activate. We may decline any request, and we may introduce genuine terms for any future paid offering separately and explicitly, never by quietly redefining the krona.

6. Your account and credentials

  • Keep your line password and voicemail PIN confidential. You are responsible for activity on your line.
  • One registration per line: signing in on a new device replaces the previous registration.
  • Ponrai TV stream links are personal. Don't publish or share them; we may rotate a link that has leaked.
  • Tell your coordinator promptly if you believe your credentials have been compromised.

7. Acceptable use

You must not use the service to:

  • harass, threaten or defraud anyone, or record calls unlawfully;
  • send bulk, automated or unsolicited calls or messages;
  • probe, disrupt or overload the network, other subscribers' lines, or the numbering registry;
  • misrepresent the service as a licensed public carrier to third parties, or use it for anything where a failed or unavailable call could cause harm (see Sections 4 and 9);
  • redistribute Ponrai TV streams, commercially or otherwise.

We may suspend or terminate lines that breach this section, ordinarily with notice, immediately where the breach affects other subscribers or the network.

8. Service availability

This is a hobbyist network run with care but without a network operations centre. The service is provided on an "as available" basis: maintenance happens when maintainers are awake, hardware is modest, and outages, including extended ones, can and will occur without notice or compensation. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, or the whole of it, at any time.

9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided "as is" and "as was", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or continuity. To the same extent, Ponrai Mobile and the individuals who operate it shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, including any consequence of a call that did not connect. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Numbers

Numbers are allocated from our blocks in the Bulakland private numbering plan and remain part of that plan. A number that has been inactive for an extended period, or whose account is closed, may be reclaimed and reissued after a quarantine period of at least ninety days.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version; material changes will be announced to active subscribers by email. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Contact

Questions about these Terms go to your coordinator, or via the request form with a note that you're asking about the Terms rather than requesting a number.
